Going up the tower was kind of a hike (as expected), but 100% worth it. Plus, there are no handrails, and walking kind of felt like being on a boat hahah. But the view from the top is really something else - you see the entire city! Also saw the Monumental Cemetery very clearly. And it’s a cool feeling to be able to say you climbed the tower. Most just come to look at it, after all. I also liked seeing the 7 bells, they were cool. And huge! The best part though was skipping the line haha. We were visiting in September and the line was still HUGE and it was still super hot.
Loved it! The leaning tower was even cooler in real life than in pictures. And, yes, I got the famous cringey photo of pushing it that everyone does. It’s too good an opportunity! Visiting the cathedral was also so beautiful - all that white marble was stunning. Very impressive, dramatic building. Great location also. Afterwards, we saw the Sinopie Museum and the Opera del Duomo museum, since they're nearby. You could easily spend the entire day at that square haha. And the app audio guide can teach you about literally everything. Was a nice afternoon learning history, seeing the tower and visiting other landmarks.

WALK UP THE LEANING TOWER OF PISA
Enter right away with your skip-the-line tickets, and climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa! You’ll walk up a narrow staircase that dates back to the 14th century, ascending through all 7 floors. As you climb, you’ll likely feel the tower’s slight leaning angle. It’s only a tilt of 4 degrees, but it’s pretty noticeable when you’re walking up 296 steps! Once you reach the top, you’ll be treated to a panoramic sight as Pisa sprawls out below you. There’ll also be a great view of the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), with its major monuments. Once you’ve absorbed all the sights, turn around to view 7 huge bells. Each bell corresponds to a note of the major musical scale!
EXPLORE THE PISA CATHEDRAL
Once you climb down from the tower, enter the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta - the Cathedral of Pisa! This monumental structure is made out of stunning white marble. There's also black marble and mosaics inside. When you walk inside, you’ll be in a cavernous space, and should see arches with ceramic bowls inside them. There’ll also be rows of blind arches under the eaves, and diamond-shaped or round sunken panels on the walls. All of these features are quintessential elements of Pisan Romanesque architecture. You’ll also come across works of art. Most famous is probably Christ Enthroned with the Virgin and Saint John by Cimabue. It’s a lovely depiction of Saint John. Walk around the church and drink in its beauty.
LISTEN TO YOUR DIGITAL APP AUDIO GUIDE
As part of your Leaning Tower of Pisa and Cathedral ticket, you’ll receive access to an app audio guide. While you explore the Leaning Tower and the Cathedral, make sure to listen up to learn their history. For example, did you know that the reason the tower leans is because of the soft ground it was built on? It couldn’t properly support its weight. The app will also teach you about the Piazza dei Miracoli which houses a baptistery and cemetery. It was re-named ‘the square of miracles’ for all the gorgeous buildings located there. Before, it used to be called just Piazza del Duomo.
